2023 CHICANO LATINO CAUCUS MEETING AGENDA

The Chicano Latino Caucus annual membership runs from January 1 through December 31 each year, so it's time for you to renew! Annual dues are $25. Eight hundred eighty California Democratic Party delegates are Latino, but you do not have to be Latino or a CLC delegate to join.  If you are not a CLC member, especially CDP delegates, we invite you to join the Chicano Latino Caucus.

 

Voting Yoou must be a CLC member to vote in CLC meetings

You must be a CLC member to vote on motions to recommend to the CDP. You can join online at CADEM.org. You may request to join with a dues waiver at the CLC website:  https://www.chicanolatinocaucuscdp.com/. You may submit an application to join the CLC at the meeting but you will not be allowed to vote unless you join online at CADEM.org or on the CLC Website.

Please remember Caucuses can no longer pass resolutions and can only make recommendations to the CDP. Keep that in mind if you make a motion.

1.     7:06 pm. CAUCUS BUSINESS Election of Vice Chair for the Chicano Latino Caucus Region 4 . According to the new CDP caucus rules, nominations are closed. This is a repeat of the May 2023 election because some members voted who were not residents of Region 4. The only people who will be allowed to vote in person have been notified twice, Voting is limited to he same 12 persons who were eligible to vote at the time of the May 2023 election as follows: Anna    Caballero, Juan      Uranga, Dan       Arriola, Teresita Orozco, Tony     Madrigal, Patricia Ramos Anderson, Barry    Anderson, Connie Ramirez, Angela Romero Waterman, Victor   Costa, Juan      Vazquez, Martha Acevedo. However, in preparing this notice ONE further eligible voter has been identified who will vote provisionally until the CRC approvesher eligibility to vote:

2.     7:11 pm. MANDATORY APPROVAL OF NEW BYLAWS IN ORDER TO BE CERTIFIED AS A CAUCUS. THE RULES COMMITTEE OF THE CDP IS MANDATIONG THAT THE CLC ADOPT NEW BYLAWS AS A CONDITION OF RECHARTERING. WE HAVE NO CHOICE ON THIS MATTER.THE PROPOSED BYLAWS ARE ATTACHED. SINCE WE HAVE NO CHOICE , WE WILL TAKE AN UP OR DOWN VOTE WITH ONLY LIMITED DISCUSSION. I BELIEVE THAT CHANGES THAT ARE THIS EXTREME SHOULDBE VOTED UPON BY THE CONVENTION BEFORE BEING MANDATED. Only CLC members can vote. New Bylaws are on CLC website at http://www.chicanolatinocucuscdp.com

The US Senate Candidates will speak whenever they arrive as they are appearing at various caucuses . (7 minutes each including Introduction and Q and A)

7:55 PM. ISRAELI/ PALESTINIAN CEASE FIRE DEBATE AND VOTE on recommendation to CDP: Each side will have a 5 minute Opening and a 5 minute Rebuttal. First speaker decided by coin flip. The debate will be followed by a vote of the CLC members on the following: “The Chicano Latino Caucus recommends that the CDP (support or not support) a cease fire “ Only CLC members can vote.

8:15 pm PANEL DISCUSSION AND VOTE on recommendations to CDP: Larino Voter Priorities, GOTV Approaches, and Volunteers for Radio Programs and other ways to combat misinformation such as the shameful Univision interview of Trump



 Latino GOTV” Moderator Norma Alcala DSCC delegate, Rhonda Kravitz-College credit for voter registration program, San Francisco Latino Community Foundation results of poll on issues and candidates.

 

8:40 PM. Caucus will vote on recommendations to the CDP concerning Latino priorities and separate vote on recommending GOTV approaches. Only CLC members can vote.

 

We will also receive names of volunteers who want to go on radio programs for GOTV in the months after the convention.
